A Prayer for Peace
A heartfelt prayer asking God to bring peace to our hearts and to the world, especially in times of conflict or fear.

When the heart longs for calm
This prayer is for the moments when your heart feels restless or afraid. When life’s storms seem louder than your hope, or when inner tension leaves you weary, here is a space to breathe, pause, and ask the Creator for peace.
Why peace matters for the soul
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” — John 14:27
Peace is more than the absence of conflict; it is the presence of wholeness. In Scripture, peace (shalom) means harmony, healing, and trust. God’s peace is a gift that calms anxious thoughts and steadies the soul, even when circumstances remain uncertain.
Preparing your space
Take a slow breath. Light a candle, or simply close your eyes. Whisper one word — peace — as you inhale and exhale. Let your heart soften and open as you prepare to pray.
The prayer for peace
Lord, my heart feels heavy and unsettled…
quiet my spirit and steady my breath.
Teach me to release the worries I clutch…
to place them gently in Your hands.
When fear rises like a storm within me…
be the calm that speaks, “Do not be afraid.”
Remind me that I am not alone…
Your love surrounds me even here.
Make me a channel of Your peace…
in my home, my friendships, my community.
Guard my thoughts with Your truth…
and let Your Spirit fill me with hope.
Amen.
A space of silence
Stay here for a moment. Let the stillness wash over you. Rest in the gentle presence of God.
Carrying peace forward
If your thoughts return to worry, come back to your word — peace. Breathe it in again. Carry it with you as a quiet rhythm for your day. When you feel anxious, whisper it like a prayer: peace, peace, peace.
Carry It With You: “My soul rests in the peace of God.”
